History

A humble beginning

Bedeku Technical Institute was established in the year 1998 as non-profit making Organization (NGO), by a Dutch man called Mr. Peter Wise Klassen and his Ghanaians partner. The school started as Growth Intergraded development Programs with the aim to curb social vices in society by providing technical and vocational skills training to the disadvantage youth and young adults thus “school drop outs”, drug addicts and those who by no faults of theirs, did not get the opportunity to any formal education in Ada and beyond. The program was entirely sponsored by German Government and European Union.

The then Growth Icces enrolled sixty-four (64) young adults in various disciplines as follows; Electrical training was made of twenty (20) trainees, sixteen (16) males and four (4) females, carpentry and joinery comprises of sixteen trainees (16) which was made up of twelve (12) male and four females and Masonry unit were twenty-eight (28) in number with twenty-five males and three (3) females.

The Management of Growth, after relocating from Big-Ada to Bedeku, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U) with the Government 0f Ghana and in the year 2008 which paved way for the Department of Intergraded Community Centre for Employment Skills (DICCES) which is an agency under Ministry of Social welfare and Labour Relations.

In 2020, The Ghana Technical, Vocational Education and Training Service absolve Growth DICCES as part of the Free Senior High Program. The name of the institution was change from Growth DICCS to Bedeku Technical Institute.
